The Enem-Omni Companies (also referred to as OMNI) was founded in 1958 by Mr. J. Lawrence Mendes. Originally established as a custom-brokerage and shipping agency, the company was primarily involved in the business of freight and logistics.
Enem-Omni are well known for being pioneers in many fields - ocean & air international freight forwarding, among others - 1st IATA Cargo Agency, 1st Biman cargo agency, 1st issuer of House AirWayBills & House Bills of Ladings, 1st Charter Airline, 1st assembler of air-conditioners, owner & operator of the 1st Container Freight Station/ Yard (CFS) at Chittagong Export Processing Zone.
Enem Express Ltd., introduced the concept and owned & operated the largest fleet of covered vans in the country.
Enem was the single forwarder at the inception of the garments export trade in Bangladesh and partnered with all the major international freight forwarders & logistics companies of the world.
Today, OMNI has under its umbrella around 30 companies engaged in shipping and aviation, logistics, textiles, real estate, food, agro-poultry-fisheries-livestock, infrastructure development, air-conditioning, engineering, books, music production & sales, pro audio, commercial sound solutions & installations, broadcast technology and financial services sectors with offices and several offices and locations at Dhaka, Chittagong & Khulna, all managed under the leadership of Neo G. Mendes, founding Chairman & Managing Director since 1972.
